Dorothy Mae Nelson received her reward of eternal rest at the blessed age of 87.
Dorothy was born to the union of Johnny and Lillie Jones on June 10, 1919, in Galveston, Texas. She was a lifelong resident of Galveston, attending HolyRosaryCatholicSchool as well as GalvestonPublic Schools. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She was a faithful member of Mt.OliveBaptistChurch, serving on the Usher board until her health begins to fail. She was also a devoted employee of St. Mary's Hospital in Galveston for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Melvin Booker, sons, Eddie, Jr. and Johnnie Shaw.
She leaves a legacy of love in the hearts of her husband, R. C. Nelson; devoted daughter, Sandra Jean Johnson of Galveston; devoted grandson, Mark Anthony Johnson, Sr. of Texas City; grandchildren, Lorenzo Shaw, Sr. of Galveston, Pamela Shaw White of Texas City, Derrick Shaw, Darrell Shaw, April Shaw and Denise Shaw all of Detroit, MI; ten great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren; sister in law, Annie Burrell of Monroe, LA; host of other relatives, friends and church family.
Visitation will be held, beginning at 10AM on Wednesday, May 9, 2007, followed by a service celebrating her life at 11:00 A.M. at the Mt Olive Baptist Church, with Pastor Norris D. Burkley, Sr., officiating. Burial will follow at LakeviewCemetery in Galveston.
