The Port of Beaumont Board of Commissioners today voted unanimously to continue a contribution rate of 14 percent of staff members’ salaries for the Texas County and District Retirement System.
The port’s employees contribute seven percent of their salary to the retirement fund. The port provides a two-to-one match to the retirement fund.
The board voted unanimously to reappoint C.A. “Pete” Shelton as president of the board. H.M. “Henry” Nix was reappointed as vice president and Georgine Guillory as secretary-tresasurer.
During the meeting, Guillory and Louis M. Broussard, Jr. took their oaths of office for their new terms on the board. Guillory, who represents Ward 4, and Broussard, who serves in an At-Large position, were unopposed for re-election in May.
The port commission voted unanimously to reconfirm the Port Commissioners Equal Employment Opportunity Policy. The policy is required for federal funding items such as grants.
The board heard a presentation from Rick Maldonado, the port’s grant consultant, regarding governmental affairs and legislative services. No action was taken on the item.

During a separate meeting of the Port of Beaumont Industrial Development Authority Board of Directors, Shelton, Guillory, Nix, Broussard, Floy Nell Clark and Lee Smith were confirmed as directors of the board. Shelton was reappointed as president. Nix was appointed as vice president and Guillory as secretary-treasurer.
The board also approved the minutes of its May 11, 2009 meeting. No other action items were on the agenda. Agenda
