Woman Steals Rugs Totaling $12,500

Sugar Land, Texas – Sugar Land police are looking for a Middle Eastern woman who stole rugs valued at $12,500 from Star Furniture, 19960 Southwest Freeway, on March 7.

The woman entered and left the store several times. She was seen on surveillance video at 6 p.m. removing a tag from a $200 rug and using the tag to pay for another rug valued at $7,500. The woman left the store and returned a few minutes later with a different rug. She placed the second rug on the floor, picked up a third rug listed at $5,000 and exited the store.

The 40- to 48-year-old Asian woman is about 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 120 pounds and has black or dark brown hair. She spoke Arabic and English and smelled of cigarette smoke.

A witness said the woman may have left in a black or dark blue Nissan.
