Houston-Galveston Area Council Board of Directors

The Houston-Galveston Area Council Board of Directors today voted unanimously to approve the Plans and Project Review Committee’s recommendations for the Criminal Justice Priority List.  Listen

“Those are the Criminal Justice Program solicitation, General Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Program solicitation, the General Victim Assistance Direct Services Program solicitation and the Violent Crimes Against Women, Criminal Justice and Training Projects including  Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Dating violence and Stalking solicitations,” reported Matagorda County Judge Nate McDonald, who reported that the Plans and Project Review Committee which he chairs voted unanimously to recommend the priority list.  

The board reviewed a draft of the 2011 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report by Patillo, Brown & Hill, LLP; which will be considered for adoption at next month’s meeting.  Listen

“We received an unqualified opinion from our auditor,” Nancy Haussler of the H-GAC staff reported.  “That is the highest form of opinion you can get on an audit report."

H-GAC Executive Director Jack Steele updated the board on Air Quality Designations by the Environmental Protection Agency.  Listen

The board voted unanimously to approve resolutions in honor of Sugar Land City Council Member Thomas Abraham, who is leaving the board; and Intergovernmental Relations Manager Mary Spain, who is retiring from the the H-GAC.

All other agenda items were approved.  All votes were unanimous.  Agenda

Colorado County Judge Ty Prause, Fort Bend County Commissioner Andy Meyers, Galveston County Commissioner Ken Clark, Waller County Commissioner Frank Pokluda, Baytown Council Member Brandon Capetillo, Conroe Council Member Toby Powell, Friendswood Council Member Michael Barker, Galveston Mayor Joe Jaworski, La Porte Council Member Chuck Engelken, Jr., Texas City Commissioner Dee Ann Haney and Dickinson Council Member Kerry Neves were absent and not represented by alternates.  Houston Mayor Annise Parker was absent but she was represented by Council Member Jerry Davis.
