More Than 500 Participants Registered for Calder 5K

Beaumont, Texas – More than 500 runners and walkers are expected to turn out for the Calder Twilight 5K, co-sponsored by the City of Beaumont and the Sea Rim Striders. The event is scheduled for Friday, June 8, at 7 p.m., and will be held rain or shine. The chip-timed race will only be called in the event of lightening.

Race day registration is at Rao’s, at the corner of Calder Avenue and 10th Street, from 6-6:30 p.m. A pre-race warm-up will begin at about 6:45 p.m., and the race begins at 7 p.m. Luke’s Icehouse will host an after-party, with half-price appetizers for those who present their race bib.

The race begins and ends at Rao’s, and takes runners down Calder Avenue between 1st and 11th Streets, with a loop up 9th Street to Gladys, and back down 8th Street. The route will be closed to cross traffic, and residents wishing to cross into the route will be asked to wait until there is a break in the race foot traffic. Streets will be blocked beginning around 6 p.m., and the race is expected to be over by about 8:30 p.m.
