METRO ON A ROLL WITH LINDALE PARK COMMUNITY PARADE
METRO President and CEO George Greanias Joins July 4 Celebration
METRO is proud to join north side residents in observing Independence Day with the 13th annual 4th of July parade, hosted by the Lindale Park Civic Club. METRO President and CEO George Greanias will represent the Authority which has participated in the parade for the event past 11 years and will again parade the METRO Antique Bus.
The parade begins at 10 a.m. at the corner of Eleanor St. and Irvington Blvd., travels south to Gale St. and back. Last year more than 1,700 residents participated, and organizers this year expect the crowd to be just as large and enthusiastic.
“We are proud to have METRO’s continued contribution to the Lindale Park community and are honored to have Mr. Greanias’ support,” said Ed Reyes, Lindale Park Civic Club Parade Chair. “The parade has been a mainstay here for more than a decade. It shows a sense of pride in the residents of Lindale Park and the greater north side. We all look forward to celebrating our nation’s holiday with neighbors, family and friends.”
The parade will feature floats, art cars, entertainment, bikes, fire trucks, police cars and more. Attendees are encouraged to decorate their bikes to ride in the parade and win prizes. Bike entrants should sign in the morning of the parade at 9 a.m. at the corner of Irvington and Eleanor. The M.D. Anderson YMCA pool, located at 706 Moody St., will be open to the public from noon to 4:45 p.m.
About Lindale Park Civic Club Lindale Park Civic Club has been active in the community from the beginnings of Lindale Park in the early 1930’s. Lindale Park was one of the earliest “planned communities” in Houston, with a pool, park, clubhouse and nine-hole golf course. Though the growth of Houston has changed the shape of the neighborhood, Lindale Park continues as a strong community and an active Civic Club.
