News Release
Thursday, July 19, 2012

Houston police have released a surveillance video of an unknown suspect robbing a woman of her purse outside a movie theater at 350 Northpark Drive about 6:10 p.m. on July 10.

The suspect is described as a white male in his early to mid 20s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds.  He had a goatee and was wearing a light blue plaid sports shirt, tan cargo shorts, hightop basketball sneakers and a baseball cap.

Surveillance photos of the suspect and video of him robbing the female victim are posted on HPD's YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XC4DbiHkiOk&feature=plcp

The victim, 48, was outside the Starplex Cinemas at the above address and talking on her cell phone.  After a few minutes on the phone, she was attacked from behind by the suspect who ripped her purse from her arm.  The woman was thrown to the ground and sustained scrapes and bruising to her stomach, arms and knees.

The suspect then ran to a red Mustang with pinstripes and fled the scene.  Witnesses said it had a partial license plate of BHR.

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect is urged to contact the HPD Robbery Division at 713-308-0700 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
