Nacogdoches County Bank President Guilty of Federal Crimes

LUFKIN, Texas – A 33-year-old Nacogdoches, Texas man has pleaded guilty to federal violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales today.

Willard T. Scott pleaded guilty on July 20, 2012, to making false entries to bank records before U.S.  Magistrate Judge Zack Hawthorn.

According to information presented in court, on Apr. 18, 2010, Scott was the President of Huntington State Bank in Nacogdoches.  On that date, Scott made a false entry in the bank records by recording on a bank customer’s checking withdrawal form that $7,393.19 was withdrawn to pay the customer’s loan payment, when in fact Scott used the withdrawn funds to pay his own home contractor. 

Scott faces up to 30 years in federal prison at sentencing.  A sentencing date has not been set.

This case is being investigated by the FBI and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Ann Cozby.
