Performances and Concerts this week on stage in the Gulf Coast region include the Houston Shakespeare Festival at Miller Outdoor Theatre performances from the Houston Young Playwrights Exchange at the Alley Theatre in Houston.
Miller Outdoor Theatre in Houston will host the Houston Shakespeare Houston, presented by the University of Houston, this week.
The festival kicks off on Friday with “Hamlet”. “The Comedy of Errors” takes the stage on Saturday. An additional performance of "Hamlet" will be on Sunday. Both performances begin at 8:30 p.m.
The Alley Theatre in Houston will present performances from the Houston Young Playwrights Exchange this weekend. HYPE playwrights, which accepted submissions from aspiring writers 13-19 years old, developed their 10-minute play submissions during a six-week workshop. Performances will be on Friday at 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The Alley Theatre will also wrap up its production of Agatha Christie's “Black Coffee” this week, with performances Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The Bay Area Harbour Playhouse in Dickinson concludes its run of Gilbert & Sullivan's “The Pirates of Penzance” this week, with performances on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
Stage Door, Inc. in Pasadena continues with “The Red Velvet Cake War”. Performances are on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 pm. The production runs through August 12.
College of the Mainland Community Theatre in Texas City continues its production of “The Wedding Singer” this week. Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The show runs through August 12.
Island etc East-End Theatre Company in Galveston continues with “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas”, with performances Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. The show runs through August 11.
Upcoming performances include the continuation of the Houston Shakespeare Festival at Miller Outdoor Theatre and “Legally Blonde: The Musical”, presented by Theatre Under the Stars and opening September 14 at the Hobby Center in Houston.
