Houston Mayor's Office
News Release
Friday, August 03, 2012

Houston Mayor Annise Parker today released the following statement in response to the proposal agreed upon by METRO board members regarding General Mobility Funds:

"It is clear residents in the METRO service area support both improved roads as well as improved transit. I do too.  While I would have preferred to shift more money to transit, this proposal, if approved by the voters, would maintain a balance.

The process to get to this point was transparent and inclusive.  It worked well, and I thank the METRO board for it's diligence in ensuring all stakeholders had the opportunity to be heard.  Now it is up to the voters."
