What’s Up with Missouri City? Find out at New Citizens University

The City of Missouri City is opening its doors and inviting residents to meet those in charge, ask questions and share their opinions. The brand new Missouri City Citizens University—a free 8-session program to be held one Thursday a month—gives an inside look on how local government works. You’ll talk with those who build budgets, construct capital projects, plan for growth, help our City remain green, emphasize fitness first and keep neighborhoods safe.

If you’re looking to get involved with your community or want to become an “insider” on what’s going on at the City, here’s your opportunity.

The curriculum includes presentations by City department heads at city facility locations including the Fire and Police departments, new Recreation and Tennis Center, traffic operations and the new City Centre at Quail Valley. Members of the class also hold a Mock City Council meeting.

Schedule: October 11-May 2, 6 p.m. to 8:30 pm on the first Thursday each month (meet second Thursday only in October and in January)

Goal: 15 participants

Target: All Missouri City residents that are registered to vote, are at least 21 years of age, are not a candidate for an elected office and have an interest in serving the City in some volunteer capacity in the future

Sign up: Click Missouri City Citizens University on the homepage at www.missouricitytx.gov, call 281-403-8500, or pick up an application at City Hall, 1522 Texas Pkwy.
