Today is the 17th anniversary of the launch of Guidry News Service as a provider of news on the Gulf Coast.
On July 8, 1996, Lynda and I published the first issue of our daily newsletter, Galveston Fax, which later evolved into Gulf Coast E-news, to provide comprehensive coverage of commissioners courts and city council meetings in five Texas counties and extensive coverage of transportation and maritime issues in the entire Gulf Coast Region.
We also publish GuidryNew.com, which we call The Online News Station; and the Guidry News Gazette, our free weekly newspaper.
At this time we would like to express appreciation to the subscribers and advertisers who have supported our efforts throughout the years.
We would especially like to publicly thank my brother Carl Guidry, who has represented us in Jefferson County since 2004 and Garrett Bryce, who has been managing editor for five years and Jason Adriance, who has been a technical consultant for Guidry News Service since the late 1990s and recently rejoined our operation as webmaster.
Other current members of our team include Nadine Ona, our evening editor and Jennifer Olin, our arts and culture editor. Contributing photographers Robert John Mihovil and Juan Peña have provided valuable documentation of events in Galveston County throughout the years.
On this anniversary we also would like to thank the elected and appointed officials in all of the entities we cover, especially the city secretaries, county clerks and other staff assistants who work with us on a daily basis to compile information for our readers.
