Today marks 19 years since we launched Guidry News Service with the broadcast fax delivery of our first newsletter, Galveston Fax. For the nostalgic, here is a copy of our first issue. Click Here
The years have been good to us and we have had good associates along the way.
Managing Editor Garrett Bryce handles our coverage of commissioners courts and city councils in five counties on the Texas Gulf Coast. He has been with us since 2008, setting new standards in 21st Century journalism.
We have maintained long-term relationships with other associates, such as Lora-Marie Bernard who helped us launch the service and is now covering meetings for us throughout the region as well as writing a book on water development in Texas.
Some stay with us for a while and then move on.
John David Suayan, who joined our team last year as a Galveston County correspondent. John David also is helping to pioneer the use of new technology to cover government meetings throughout the region via the Internet.
Jennifer Olin, our Arts & Culture Editor, provides an overview of leisure activity options in her regular "Diversions" column.
A very important new addition to our team is Russell Owen, who is providing technical assistance.
We also have some very valuable contributors who have helped us throughout the years, such as Juan Peña and Robert Mihovil in Galveston and my brother, Carl Guidry, in Jefferson County.
As always in these anniversary messages, we want to thank our subscribers and advertisers. We especially appreciate those who have supported us from our first day.
Thank you all very much!
