Thursday, September 25, 2014

Sheriff Brian C. Hawthorne reported that on September 24, 2014 at 4:04 p.m. Chambers County 911 dispatched Winnie EMS to the Winnie Stowell Park in regards to an unresponsive 30-year-old female.

Upon arrival EMS immediately started CPR on the victim. When deputies arrived they were informed by witnesses that the female, who was part of a work crew, was struck while removing a transportation brace. CPR continued while the injured worker was transported by ambulance to the Winnie Community Hospital. Medical staff at the hospital was unable to revive the victim. The name of the victim is not being released pending notification of next of kin.

Chambers County Investigators were on the scene and determined this accident was not related to the carnival rides which had not yet been assembled.
