The Houston-Galveston Area Council Board of Directors today voted unanimously to approve a request for authorization of contracts for FY2017 aging services.
The H-GAC received proposals from all 12 current providers and two from new organizations, which are Grace Initiative in Liberty County and Friends of Elder Citizens in Matagorda County, for nutrition and transportation services. Friends of Elder Citizens, however, will not be recommended for funding because of concerns about its financial position.
Twelve current providers and a new organization put in bids for direct services.
The board voted unanimously to appoint Jackie Pottinger, Dwight Sullivan, and Colleen McGrath to the Houston-Galveston Area Local Development Corporation, Richard Zientek, Phillip M. Goodwin, Loren Raun, Tanwir Badar, and Aaron Wieczorek to the Regional Air Quality Planning Advisory Committee, Wayne Karstadt Rajendra Shrestha to the Regional Flood Management Council, and Harry J. Hayes and Sarah J. Mason to the Solid Waste Management Council.
The board voted unanimously to recognize retiring board member Steve R. Porter. Porter was absent from the meeting. Porter serves on the Sugar Land City Council.
