City of Port Arthur
News Release
Friday, October 07, 2016

Port Arthur Fire Department Captains Ricky Bodin and Richard Malone have been deployed to Florida as representatives from the Golden Triangle Incident Management Team. They will be working with the Texas Forest Service IMT sent to assist with Hurricane Matthew disaster operations. They will be working with IMT personnel representing the cities of San Antonio, Nacogdoches and Bexar County and the Texas Forest Service.

Bodin and Malone are both members of the Port Arthur Incident Management Team and have provided Mutual Aid disaster support both locally and regionally during several previous disaster operations. Some of their previous deployments include Hurricanes Rita, Gustav and Ike; flood operations in Jasper, Orange, and Fort Bend Counties.

The Texas A&M Forest Service (TFS), in cooperation with the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) has developed the State of Texas Type III All Hazard Incident Management Team (AHIMT) program as an added component to wildfire and all-hazard response. These teams are formed by personnel from local jurisdictions who are trained and qualified in command and general staff positions and are mobilized by TFS to provide incident management support statewide as needed. The AHIMT program was initiated in 2006 and is delivered by TFS with program funding by TDEM.

These teams work under the direction of the TFS Lone Star State IMT (LSSIMT) to provide the full array of incident management support including supporting impacted communities in managing security and continuity of government issues, assessment of critical infrastructure, and restoration of essential services following a catastrophic incident. There are currently over 400 AHIMT members statewide, representing all first responder disciplines.
