The Houston-Galveston Area Council Board of Directors today voted unanimously to approve a request that the Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Liberty, Montgomery, Walker, and Waller counties’ applications for Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grant funding be found consistent with H-GAC plans, policies, and review criteria, as well as enter into interlocal agreements.
The grants have received conditional approval, subject to an Executive Order Review. The Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grant requires a 25 percent local match, which can be made in cash or in-kind contribution by the participating counties and municipalities.
The board voted unanimously to recognize January as Parks and Natural Areas Month in support of the Parks and Natural Areas Awards program.
The board voted unanimously to accept an additional $1.65 million in adult education funds and authorize the amendment of existing contracts.
The board voted unanimously to appoint H-GAC Community and Environmental Planning Director Jeff Taebel with H-GAC Chief Operations Officer Chuck Wemple as alternate to the H-GAC Technical Advisory Committee.
The board voted unanimously to recognize outgoing member and Harris County Commissioner Jack Morman. Morman was not present to accept his accolade.
All other agenda items were approved unanimously. This was the first meeting for Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis and League City Mayor Pat Hallisey. Agenda
