Board of Trustees of the Galveston Wharves

The Board of Trustees of the Galveston Wharves on Monday voted unanimously to renew its property and associated insurance policies with Hugh Wood, Inc.

The policies include all risk property, property terrorism, law enforcement liability, privacy/cyber liability and workers compensation insurance coverages for 2017-2018.

The total anticipated premium for the policies is $1,872,561, which is lower than the port's budgeted amount for insurance.

The board voted unanimously to award a master services agreement for engineering, geotechnical and inspection services to PND Engineers, Inc. for the slip fill project.

The agreement, for an amount not to exceed $850,000, approves services related to the east-end slip fill project.

The board voted 6-0-1, with Todd Sullivan abstaining, to award a contract to Callan Marine, LTD for maintenance dredging of port facilities.

The contract is for a term of five years, with the annual maximum not to exceed $877,500. Callan Marine submitted the lowest bid for the contract, totaling $702,000.

The board voted unanimously to approve board travel to the Annual Seatrade Cruise Global Conference to be held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida March 13-16 and the AAPA Spring Conference to be held in Washington, D.C. On April 4-6. Board members interested in attending the events were to inform the board secretary.

The board took no action regarding development of port of call opportunities for the Port of Galveston.

During the meeting, the board recognized the port for receiving the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its comprehensive annual financial report.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. It is awarded to the individual, department or agency designated to prepare the comprehensive annual financial report for a government unit. News Release
