Harris County Transit Extends Shuttle Service to Gulfgate Center
Still Just a Dollar a Ride!
Harris County Transit has extended its Baytown/LaPorte Shuttle an additional seven miles from Strawberry Clinic, 727 Shaw Avenue to Gulfgate Center, connecting passengers to four Houston Metro Bus Stops along Woodridge Drive. The new service launched with a soft test opening Monday, February 13, 2017.
“It’s a short extension that serves as a gateway into the METRO service area for Baytown and LaPorte residents. You can connect with METRO’s 40 Telephone to downtown and Hobby Airport, or take 76 Evergreen to METRORail Green Line Rail at Magnolia Park Transit Center east of downtown,” said Ken Fickes, Director of Harris County Transit Services.
The new Gulfgate Connection is an expansion of the Baytown/LaPorte Shuttle that starts at the Garth@ Park Transfer Station in Baytown, extending southeast to the Evelyn Kennedy Civic Center, 618 San Jacinto in La Porte, west to Strawberry Clinic, 927 Shaw before continuing to Gulfgate Center. The Baytown LaPorte Shuttle then returns east, stopping first at the U.S Office of Social Security at 3300 Waters before returning to the Garth@Park Transfer Station in Baytown.
The entire shuttle trip runs roughly an hour starting at 6am at Garth and Park Road with approximately two-hour intervals between starts until 4pm. Return trips for the shuttle begin at 7am at Gulfgate Center running at two-hour intervals through 5pm Monday through Friday.
Cost is $1.00 each way. For more information go to www.harriscountytransit.com or call 713-578-2216. Harris County Transit is a division of the Harris County Community Services Department.
