Brazoria County Commissioners Court on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve the designation of a reinvestment zone and granting of a tax abatement for The Phillips 66 Company.

The company applied for a tax abatement for an estimated $1 billion in improvements related to building a plant in the county for the fractionation of natural gas liquids into marketable products. The abatement will be for a 10 year term at 100 percent of the value of eligible improvements.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to award a $467,659 contract to Phoenix I Restoration and Construction, LTD for the installation of a new elevator and hoistway for the Brazoria County Museum.

The commissioners court took no action resulting from closed session items regarding potential litigation.
