Deer Park City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to designate the Deer Park Community Center as the physical premises of the Community Center Pre-School for purposes of firearm possession, including by a person who holds a license to carry a handgun.
The designation restricts openly carried or concealed weapons on the premises, as firearms are prohibited at a school.
The city council voted to approve the purchase of a 2017 Chevrolet 3500HD Silverado Double-Cab truck, with a switch-n-go system for the Park Maintenance Department.
The truck will be purchased through the Houston-Galveston Area Council's Cooperative Purchasing Program for a total cost of $67,547.
The city council voted to adopt a resolution authorizing the city's participation in the United States Communities Government Purchasing Alliance. The purchasing cooperative program allows the city to access bid pricing for goods and services with member communities.
All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with Council Member Bill Patterson absent. Agenda
