Sugar Land City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to advertise the city's intent to issue certificates of obligation for various capital improvement projects.
The debt will be issued to fund projects under the city's FY2017 Capital Improvement Program, and will total a maximum of $25 million.
Projects include improvements at the airport, drainage projects, streets and traffic improvements.
The city council voted to adopt an order for the cancellation of the May 6 election for Council Member Districts 1, 2 and 3.
Incumbents Stephen Porter, Bridget Yeung, and Amy Mitchell, were unopposed for re-election to District 1, 2 and 3, respectively.
The city will still hold an election on May 6 for District 4. Sean Burnett, Carol McCutcheon and Qaisar Q Imam have filed for election to that position. News Release
The city council voted to accept donations totaling $3,953 for animal services.
The city council voted to award a $129,292 contract to 5engineering, LLC for design services related to the Covington Woods Drainage Improvements, Jess Pirtle Side Streets and Greywood Drive.
