The Pilots Board of Commissioners for Galveston County on Tuesday voted unanimously to make a change in the pilotage rate increase that was approved last fall.
The move eliminates the multi-year aspect – the years 2017 and 2018 – of the current tariff, which will expire on September 2, 2017.
The action was taken in response to a request by several organizations, including Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association, Carnival Corporation, Royal Caribbean Cruises, LTD, and the Board of Trustees of the Port of Galveston and the Galveston Port Facilities Corporation. The groups had objected to the increases, which were approved in August. Report
Paxton Crew, an attorney representing the Gal-Tex Pilots, said the pilots intend to refile another tariff to address the issues that were left unresolved, following the expiration of the current tariff in September.
The board met at the offices of the Port of Texas City/Texas City Terminal Railway Company from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
All members were present. Agenda
