Performances and concerts this week on stage in the Gulf Coast region include “An Act of God” in Houston and “Next to Normal” in Galveston.
The Alley Theatre in Houston kicks off its production of “An Act of God” on Friday at 8 p.m.
Additional performances are on Saturday at 8 p.m. Sunday at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The show runs through April 16.
The Alley Theatre also concludes its production of “Let the Right One In” this week.
Performances are on Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Miller Outdoor Theatre in Houston kicks off its 2017 performance season on with Michael Londra’s “Celtic Fire” on Friday at 8 p.m.
Miller Outdoor Theatre will also host “Noche Caliente featuring Ray De La Paz” on Saturday at 8 p.m.
Island ETC, East-End Theatre Company in Galveston will kick off its production of “Next to Normal” on Friday at 8 p.m. An additional performance is on Saturday at 8 p.m. The show runs through April 8.
The Grand 1894 Opera House in Galveston will present “42nd Street” on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.
“With book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, music by Harry Warren and lyrics by Al Dubin, 42nd Street is based on Busby Berkeley’s 1933 movie about a starry-eyed young dancer named Peggy Sawyer who leaves her Allentown home and comes to New York to audition for a new Broadway musical,” said a news release. “When the leading lady breaks her ankle, Peggy takes over and becomes a star.” News Release
The Grand 1894 Opera House will also present the Galveston Symphony Orchestra in concert on Sunday at 4 p.m.
Company OnStage in Houston continues its production of “Cinderella” this week, with performances on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The show runs through April 1.
Upcoming performances include “Footloose: The Musical”, opening March 30 at Miller Outdoor Theatre, and “The Fox on the Fairway”, opening April 7 at Clear Creek Community Theatre in Nassau Bay.
