The Texas City City Commission on Wednesday voted unanimously to approve an interlocal agreement with Galveston for an inter-city bus service between Galveston and Houston's METRO Bay Area Park and Ride, with an intermediate stop in Texas City.

Texas City, Galveston County and the City of Galveston have pledged $40,000 over a 2-year period to provide a local funding match for the service. The service will be provided through Galveston's Island Transit, and the stop in Texas City will be at the Food-Rite hub.

The city commission voted to reject a proposed increase by Centerpoint on natural gas rates.

The city commission to award a $2,131,299 contract to SER Construction Partners, LLC for the 2016 Street Improvement Project.

The city commission voted to appropriate an additional $225,000 in funds from the unassigned fund balance to pay costs for the street improvement project.

The city commission voted to accept the donation from Galveston County Senior Citizens Activities, Inc. for the purchase of a passenger bus to be operated on behalf of the city's Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism.

All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with Mayor Matthew Doyle and Commissioner Bruce Clawson absent. Mayor Pro Tem Phil Roberts presided over the meeting. Agenda
