The Houston-Galveston Area Council Board of Directors today voted unanimously to approve a resolution authorizing a Local Project Advance Funding Agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation for receipt of funding for regional incident management activities.
The H-GAC Transportation Policy Council has committed $5 million to continue these incident management activities.
"The program primarily serves as a freeway assistance patrol, providing assistance such as changing flat tires, supplying fuel, jump-starting vehicles and assisting in the removal of stranded vehicles from the freeway," stated the item summary. Item Summary
The board voted unanimously to receive $2,658,283 and amend contracts to deliver expanded services to the region through the Gulf Coast Workforce Board's Workforce Solutions system.
The board voted unanimously to recognize retiring member Kristin Tassin. Tassin was absent from the meeting.
Vice Chair Stacy Adams announced the recent passing of former board member Dr. Jack Harris. Dr. Harris, who passed away on March 13, served on the board from 2003 to 2008.
A memorial service for Dr. Harris will be held on March 25 at First United Methodist Church in Pearland.
Adams called Dr. Harris a “true gentleman and a statesman.”
