The Clear Creek Independent School District Board of Trustees on Monday voted unanimously to adopt a resolution expressing the district's intent to cash redeem a portion of the district's outstanding bonded indebtedness.
The district's debt service fund has accumulated an excess fund balance. The board is authorizing a reduction in the district's outstanding debt by up to $10 million through a cash redemption of bonds.
The board voted unanimously to approve the hiring of an additional 20 teaching units for the 2017-2018 school year. The authorization is given to allow Human Resources staff to begin hiring for the next school year. The total cost of the additional hires is approximately $1.2 million.
The board voted unanimously to cancel the May 6 election for District 2 Trustee. Chris Reed, who filed for election to the position, is unopposed. Incumbent Win Weber did not file for another term.
Incumbent Ken Baliker drew one opponent, Arturo Sanchez, III, for the District 3 position on the board.
The board postponed action regarding a policy change concerning alternative methods for earning credit through credit by examination without prior instruction.
