Fort Bend County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to adopt a resolution supporting HB1166 before the 85th Texas Legislature, regarding the liability of electric utilities that allow certain uses of land that the electric utility owns, occupies or leases.
The bill would limit the liability of electric utility companies and allow easements along electricity utilities to be used for hike and bike trails. Resolution
The commissioners court voted unanimously to accept the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for FY2016.
The audit, included in the report, was conducted by Whitley Penn, LLP, which issued an unmodified, or clean opinion, of the city's financial statements, according to a draft report. An unmodified opinion is the highest assurance that the county's financial statements accurately reflected the financial status of the county for 2016.
The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve agreements for direct services for the prevention of violence or abuse/neglect of a child. The county provided funding to the Fort Bend County Women's Center, Community Partners Rainbow Room and Child Advocates of Fort Bend, Inc.
The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve a motion to authorize the county engineering and the director of environmental health to develop an appropriate procedure for approving and recommending connections for water and service services for the Fort Bend County Water Control and Improvement District No. 2.
The commissioners court voted unanimously to terminate a reimbursement agreement with the Fort Bend Grand Parkway Toll Road Authority.
The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve a contract with the Texas Department of State Health Services for the county to receive $630,453 in grant funding in support of public health preparedness regarding the Zika Virus.
The commissioners court voted unanimously to award a $3,772,635 contract to Allgood Construction for the construction of the Bellaire Boulevard Mobility Bond Project. The project includes improvements from FM 1464 to San Pablo Drive.
The commissioners court took no action resulting from items discussed in executive session, which included consultation with the attorney regarding potential legal proceedings regarding threats to county personnel, an Attorney General Complaint, and a State Bar Case.
