17th ANNUAL TACFT LOGO DRAWING CONTEST WINNERS RECEIVE AWARDS

FREEPORT, Texas – Port Freeport hosted its 17th Annual Logo Drawing Contest for its Take-A-Child Fishing Tournament (TACFT) to be held on May 13th at Freeport Municipal Park.  The Port holds the logo contest drawing annually by distributing fliers to schools within our Navigational District.  Brazoria County’s youth ages 3 - 14 years are eligible to enter the contest. One lucky winner is chosen and their logo is used on all fliers, posters, advertisements and t-shirts for the tournament.

The Port Commission and staff would like to congratulate William Smith, the first place winner of the TACFT Logo Drawing Contest.  William, a sixth grade student at Grady Rasco Middle School (Rasco) in Lake Jackson, won a framed print of his drawing and a $100 Visa Gift Card.  Angelle Myers, also a sixth grade student at Rasco, won second place and was awarded a $50 Visa Gift Card and a framed print of her drawing.  The third place winner, Amber DeLaRosa, an eighth grade student from Lake Jackson Intermediate School, also received a framed print of her drawing and won a $25 Visa Gift Card.

“We received over 330 entries from students this year,” said Port Freeport Executive Director/CEO Phyllis Saathoff.  “Participating students were from 26 schools in Brazoria County receiving entries from as far as Alvin Independent School District,” added Saathoff.   Port Freeport Commission Chairman Ravi Singhania said, “We owe our deepest gratitude to the support from all the schools in helping us reach out to their students and their families.   Our communities have very talented youth,” said Singhania.  The Chairman added, “the Port is very proud to host this event every year; giving our children opportunity to have a day of fishing.  TACFT is made possible through the generosity of sponsors, volunteers and employees”.
