Lamar Institute of Technology Receives Texas Mutual Grants to Provide Safety Courses
BEAUMONT, Texas—Texas Mutual Insurance Company has awarded a $100,000 grant to Lamar Institute of Technology to establish a safety institute to provide workplace safety courses for local employers, workers and the general public.
Lamar Institute for Technology Vice President for Strategic Initiatives David Mosley and Texas Mutual Manager of Safety Services for the Houston Region Craig Witherspoon announced the $100,000 grant, March 29, at a ceremony on the Lamar Institute of Technology campus.
“Today’s grant will allow us to begin offering invaluable workplace safety education to workers in our community,” Mosley said. “These courses will help our local workforce be safer on the job, and we’re grateful for this partnership with Texas Mutual that’s helping to make it possible.”
Lamar Institute of Technology will use the funds to help launch a risk management program to provide training for increased safety awareness and to reduce work-related accidents and injuries. The goal of the program is to provide a wide range of possible courses relative to the workforce in Beaumont.
“We are happy to partner with Lamar Institute of Technology to make safety programs a priority in the Beaumont area,” Witherspoon said. “We know workplace safety education will always be a sound investment, and all of the safety programs at Texas Mutual demonstrate our commitment to the prevention of workplace accidents and to overall workplace safety.”
