Performances and concerts this week on stage in the Gulf Coast region include “Greater Tuna” in Galveston and “Dreamgirls” in Houston.
The Grand 1894 Opera House in Galveston will present “Greater Tuna” on Saturday at 3 p.m.
“Greater Tuna is an irreverently hilarious comedy about Texas’ third smallest town, where the Lion’s club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies,” said a news release. “All of the town’s eclectic residents are portrayed by only three performers, making this satire on life in rural America both crazy and delightful!” News Release
Additional performances are at 8 p.m. and on Sunday on 3 p.m.
Theatre Under the Stars will open its production of “Dreamgirls” on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Hobby Center in Houston.
Additional performances are on Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The show runs through April 16.
Beaumont Community Players will launch its production of “Steel Magnolias” on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Betty Greenberg Center for Performing Arts.
An additional performance is on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The show runs through April 22.
Clear Creek Community Theatre in Nassau Bay will open “The Fox on the Fairway” on Friday at 8 p.m.
Additional performances are on Saturday at 8 p.m. and on Friday at 2:30 p.m. The show runs through April 23.
Island ETC, East-End Theatre Company wraps up its production of “Next to Normal” this week, with performances Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m.
Miller Outdoor Theatre in Houston wraps up “Footloose: The Musical”, a production by HITS Theatre, this week.
Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m.
Main Street Theater in Houston continues with its production of “Grand Concourse” this week.
Performances are on Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 3 p.m.
The show runs through April 30.
College of the Mainland Community Theatre continues its production of “Moon Over Buffalo” this week.
Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The production continues through April 9.
The Alley Theatre in Houston continues its production of “An Act of God” this week.
Performances are on Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m. Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The show runs through April 16.
Upcoming performances include “A View from the Bridge”, opening April 28 at the Alley Theatre, and “Houston’s Got Bollywood”, at Miller Outdoor Theatre on April 15.
