Jefferson County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to approve the Jefferson County Tourism Committee’s Hotel Occupancy Tax allocation recommendations for Spring 2017.
A total of $113,248 in requests for hotel tax funds were received for Spring 2017, with allocations totaling $70,883 recommended. Allocations are attached to the Agenda. Listen (23:14)
The commissioners court voted unanimously to ratify an amendment to the Interagency Project Cooperation Agreement with the Texas General Land Office for additional state funding for the McFaddin National Wildlife Refuge Beach Ridge Restoration Project.
The amendment will increase the project by a total of $5,667,580, resulting in a total project budget of $11,567,807.
The commissioners court voted unanimously to award term contracts for insecticides, herbicides, spray adjuvants and adulticides for the Jefferson County Mosquito Control District to various companies. Award of a contract for Malathion Insecticide was decided by a drawing of lots and was awarded to Univar, USA.
The commissioners court tabled action regarding approval of the first phase of fire, smoke and control damper testing repairs for the smoke evacuation system at the Downtown Jail.
The commissioners court voted unanimously to hire Charlie Wiggins as a part time deputy constable with the Constable Precinct 1 Office.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve a use/license agreement between SMG and Gulf Coast, formerly APAC-Texas, for use of the Barn and Arena of the Ford Park Entertainment Complex on April 21.
The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve an agreement between SMG and Philpott Ford for use of one-half of the exhibit hall at the Ford Park complex on May 20.
The commissioners court tabled action regarding a retail development land lease agreement with Glow Investment, Inc. for retail development of property adjacent to the Jack Brooks Regional Airport.
The commissioners court tabled action regarding a retail development (restaurant) land lease agreement with Judice’s Restaurant for development of property adjacent to the airport.
All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Commissioner Eddie Arnold was absent. Agenda
