Beaumont City Council today voted unanimously to adopt a resolution opposing Senate Bill 1524.

The proposed bill would state that a municipality may not regulate the movement and operation on a state highway or county or municipal road due to weight, and other changes regarding weight limits and transporting intermodal shipping containers. Bill Text

The city council voted to approve a one-year contract with ANA-Lab Corporation for laboratory testing services in the Water Utilities Department.

The city council voted to authorize the city's chief financial officer to execute all documents necessary to accept funding from the Texas Department of State Health Services to assist the Beaumont Public Health Department's Immunization Division.

The city council voted to accept funding from the Texas Department of State Health Services related to a Public Health Emergency Preparedness grant.

During the meeting the city council held workshops regarding the use of three federal earmarks for various street projects and discussed private streets located within the city.
