Clear Lake Shores City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to amend the city's Code of Ordinances by adding a new article providing for the imposition of a 7 percent hotel occupancy tax within the city and the city's extraterritorial jurisdiction.
The amendment also provides rules and regulations for collection, payment and reporting requirements, and provides for penalty and interest in an amount not to exceed 15 percent of the total amount of the unpaid tax due.
The city council voted 2-3, with only Mike McNamara and S. Bud Solmonsson voting in favor of approval, to deny a motion to adopt an ordinance establishing standards for any hotel constructed in a commercial district.
The city council voted unanimously to appoint Jonathan Boultinghouse to fill a vacancy on the Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors.
The city council voted unanimously to adopt a resolution finding that CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC's application for a rate increase for its distribution cost recovery factor should be denied.
CenterPoint has filed for an increase in revenues totaling $89,560,854 for its electricity service.
All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
