reviewed by Garrett Bryce
Wednesday, April 19, 2017

Barbara Cutsinger with the Bay Area Houston Economic Development Partnership has provided the Business Development Update for April.

"French company, Total, will partner with Canadian company, Nova Chemicals, and Borealis, an Austrian petrochemical firm, to build a polyethylene plant at Total’s Bayport location near La Porte," Cutsinger announced. "Also planned is a new ethane steam cracker plant in Port Arthur, Texas. This is a $1.7 billion total investment in the petrochemical sector for both projects."

Medical projects include the development of a 60,000 square foot office building near State Highway 3 and East Medical Center Boulevard in Webster. The project, announce by Bay Area Regional Medical Center and Medistar Corporation, will complement the adjacent Bay Area Rehabilitation Hospital.

Clear Creek Independent School District is purchasing the former ITT Technical Institute in Webster. The school district plans to utilize the 30,750 square foot facility as a replacement for its Clear Path Alternative School.
