100 Black Men of America, Inc. Celebrate the 100th Legislative Day
Texas chapters visit Capitol to celebrate accomplishments and plan for the future

Senator Borris L. Miles, Representative Jarvis Johnson and Texas Legislative Black Caucus Chair, Representative Helen Giddings welcomed the Texas chapters of 100 Black Men of America, Inc. to the State Capitol to celebrate the 100th Day at the Texas Legislature.

“The 100 Black Men of America, Inc. was formed to improve the quality of life of African Americans and our communities, said Senator Miles. “As a founding member of the 100 Black Men of Metropolitan Houston Chapter, it is an honor to welcome the Texas chapters to the Capitol to celebrate our accomplishments and the work we continue to do to improve our community.”

The 100 Black Men of America, Inc. was founded in New York City in 1963 when a group of visionary leaders came together to explore ways to improve the quality of life in the African American community. The 100 Black Men’s ideology encompasses four pillars of mentoring, education, health and wellness and economic development.

"Each year, the Texas Chapters from Houston, Dallas, Austin, Beaumont, San Antonio and West Texas visit the legislature on the 100th day of session for its annual Policy Day. This year, the chapters will visit legislative members to promote the policy agenda in the following areas: public education, corrections reforms, higher education and juvenile justice," said Senator Miles.
