Thursday, April 20, 2017

The Texas City City Commission on Wednesday voted unanimously to enter into a bike share program with Zagster for Bay Street Park.

The city will provide $18,000 to start the program, which will come from dike revenues. Zagster will install and maintain the 10 bikes for the program and the related stations.

The city commission voted to adopt a resolution finding that a rate increase filed by CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC should be denied.

The proposed rate increase would add approximately $0.31 per customer bill to recover capital improvement costs for the company, resulting in increased revenues of $89,560,854.

The Gulf Coast Coalition of Cities, of which Texas City is a member, has recommended denial of the rate increase.

The city commission voted to commission an artist to paint the retaining wall of Bay Street Park, in an amount not to exceed $20,000.

The city commission voted to amend the FY2017 Budget to transfer $51,100 from unassigned fund balance for the purchase of a new vehicle for the city marshal.

All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with all members present. Agenda

During the meeting, the city commission recognized several employees for their service. Stephen Bookman, Jonathan Crosswhite, Shonna Bellow, Mathew Wyatt, Chase Bessire and Micah Simons received 10 year service awards.
