Beaumont City Council today voted unanimously to award a $15,984,397 contract to Allco, LLC for the Washington Boulevard Pavement Widening Project, Phase II.

The contract includes widening of the street from Corporate Drive to Amarillo Street and provide for new storm sewer, water, sewer, sidewalks, driveways, traffic signals and pavement improvements.

Allco, LLC provided the lowest of four bids submitted for the project.

The city council voted unanimously to appoint Brenda Green Dalcore to fill the unexpired term of Connie Patterson on the Convention and Tourism Advisory Board.

The city council voted unanimously to adopt a resolution supporting Entergy Texas, Inc.'s application to the Public Utility Commission of Texas to build the Montgomery County Power Station.

Entergy has filed an application to construct a 993 megawatt gas-fired power plant, with an estimated cost of $1 billion, and is estimated to provide savings of $1.7 billion for customers over a 30-year period.

The city council voted unanimously to adopt a resolution authorizing a contract for property insurance for various city-owned buildings and assets. The city will insure a total building value of $240,326,185 at a cost of $962,552, a decrease of 4.35 percent from the previous year's premium of $1,002,131.

The city council voted unanimously to adopt an order declaring several properties as unsafe structures and ordering their demolition within 10 days.

Consideration of three properties, 850 Boyd, 3245 Corley and 2360 Liberty, was deferred to a future date.

Properties at 3040 Case, 252 East Chapin, 2510 College, 725 Fulton, 2909 Gulf, 835 Jefferson, 4260 Park, 1440 Roberts and 2795 San Jacinto were enrolled in a work program for rehabilitation.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
