Freeport LNG Underwrites CenterFest Love Concert

Freeport LNG is the premier sponsor for the CenterFest ‘Love’ Concert, Saturday May 6, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. in the Freeport LNG Theater. The theater is located inside the Brazosport Center for the Arts and Sciences (the Center) located in Clute, TX..

The Love Concert is a fund-raising event with the goal to raise $40,000.00 to purchase and install new, automatic doors. The new doors will make access to the Center’s museums, theaters and planetarium available for people with mobility challenges. Freeport LNG pledged $7,500.00 to underwrite the concert which will feature the Brazosport Symphony Orchestra and singers from Brazosport Center Stages performing Broadway favorites.

In addition to the music, there will also be four separate pairings of wine and chocolate. “It is a unique event for something we believe is very important,” said Wes Copeland, executive director of the Center. “We are so very pleased that Freeport LNG will underwrite the concert, and get us that much closer to the goal we have for buying those doors.”

Musical Return of the Brazosport Symphony Podcast

With ‘Love’ as the theme, the concert will feature a lineup of love themed show tunes sung by members of Brazosport Center Stages. Joining the orchestra are Connie Lamoureux, Elizabeth Conger, Dennis Ulrich, and Tony Stewart.

Since the opening of The Clarion at Brazosport College, the Brazosport Symphony Orchestra (BSO) has played all their concerts there. But prior to that, the orchestra played in what is now the Freeport LNG Theater. “Many of our patrons and BSO subscribers will have fond memories of hearing the symphony here,” Copeland said. “We are all very grateful to them for performing this benefit with us and for the chance to have them back, even if it is only for one night.” To hear BSO conductor John Ricarte describe the music, click here to listen to a podcast where describes it in detail: http://www.brazosportcenterfest.org/

On the podcast, Jeri Gibbs describes the four-different wine and food pairings that will be served.  The pairing all involve chocolate but not only the sweet type most of us are used to. According to Jeri, there are savory pairings with chicken and beef that will be served as well. Of course, there are sweet choices too, each with a wine selection that compliments the food.
