Beaumont City Council today voted unanimously to authorize the issuance and sale of an estimated $21 million in waterworks and sewer system revenue bonds.

Proceeds from the bonds will fund several water and sewer system projects, including the Florida Avenue Interceptor project, the Keith Road Water Line Installation project, rehabilitation of the sewer plant clarifiers, and rehabilitation of small mains for the sewer system.

The city council voted unanimously to approve the purchase of self contained breathing apparatus for use by the Fire Department. The city will purchase the items from Municipal Emergency Services, Inc., in the amount of $71,422.

The city council voted unanimously to accept a grant award of $5,000 from the Texas Department of State Health Services to the Beaumont Public Health Department through the Influenza Virologic Surveillance Right Size Grant.

The city council took no action regarding an amendment to the rules and regulations for the city's Municipal Health Care Provider Participation Program. The item was pulled from the agenda.

The city council voted unanimously to grant a specific use permit to allow for a conference center at 4195 Milam Street.

The city council voted unanimously to grant a specific use permit to allow a cellular communications tower site at 3410 Concord Road.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
