UPDATE: Coast Guard suspends search for person in the water 

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard has suspended its search for a person in the water near Slidell, Louisiana, Wednesday.

A Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew began a search at 6:17 a.m.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a notification of a possible person in the water after a personal flotation device was found near Highway 11 and the I-10 bridge at 7:03 p.m., Tuesday.

Watchstanders diverted a Coast Guard Station New Orleans 24-foot Special Purpose Craft boatcrew at 7:51 p.m.

Coast Guard searching for person in the water
