Mayor Turner Announces Immigrant Integration Initiative

New Americans Workforce to offer worksite citizenship assistance to eligible city employees

HOUSTON — Mayor Sylvester Turner today announced a new partnership between the City of Houston Office of New Americans and the National Immigration Forum (NIF) to provide workplace citizenship services to city employees who are legal permanent residents.  The services will be offered by the NIF’s New American Workforce at no cost to the city and employees.
"As the Mayor of the City of Houston, I am pleased to partner with the National Immigration Forum to provide qualified city employees worksite access to the help they need to complete the citizenship application process,” said Mayor Turner.  “The New American Workforce will offer these services at no cost to the city and our employees to help them secure their future in this country, while helping the city retain its workforce talent.
The New American Workforce works with businesses and municipalities to assist eligible immigrant employees with the citizenship process at the worksite.
“I encourage other employers in Houston to take advantage of this opportunity by making New American Workforce services available to employees who are permanent residents to help them achieve the American Dream," said the mayor.
