Ceremony to celebrate expansion of Galveston’s beaches

Galveston Beach ExpansionThe Galveston Island Park Board of Trustees, the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce and the City of Galveston today hosted a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the expansion of Galveston’s beaches.

Commissioner of the Texas General Land Office George P. Bush was the special guest.

Former Texas legislator A.R. “Babe” Schwartz was also in attendance along with many of Galveston’s most staunch shore and beach preservation advocates.

The festivities were held on the beach at 57th Street and the Seawall Boulevard.
