Wednesday, May 24, 2017

The Lake Charles Harbor and Terminal District Board of Commissioners on Monday voted unanimously to authorize advertising for bids for the Bulk Terminal-1 Expansion Project at Berths 15 and 16.

The board voted to submit requests for Port Security Grant funds for improvement projects. Improvements include cameras and radios.

The board voted approve a services agreement with Port Rail, Inc. as a handling carrier and to provide funding of an additional investment of $100,000 to continue rail operations.

The authorization establishes a funding mechanism for Port Rail to bill the port for operation of the port's short line railroad.

The board voted to accept the audited financial statements for FY2016. The audit was clean, with no findings of issues.

The board voted to award a contract to McElroy, Quirk and Burch, APC to conduct audits of the port's financial statements for FY2017, 2018 and 2019.

The board voted to approve a settlement agreement in a legal matter.

The board took no action on any other items discussed in executive session.

All action items were approved by unanimous vote. Commissioners Walter Sanchez, Elcie Guillory and John LeBlanc were absent. Agenda
