Update: Coast Guard suspends search for three people near Memphis
NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard has suspended its search three people on the Lower Mississippi River near Memphis, Tenn., Thursday.
Coast Guard crews and local agencies searched approximately 507 square miles for 35 hours with negative results for the unconfirmed people in the water.
Coast Guard Sector Lower Mississippi River watchstanders received a MAYDAY broadcast at 7:04 p.m. Tuesday stating three people aboard a jon boat hit a submerged object and began taking on water near mile marker 774 on the Lower Mississippi River.
