The Houston-Galveston Area Council Board of Directors today voted unanimously to approve authorization to negotiate and execute an eight-month contract with Newman & Newman, Inc. for public awareness services related to the Quick Clearance Towing Program.

The program will provide no-cost removal of stalled vehicles on the freeway. The board had approved funding for the program in September 2015. Under the contract, Newman & Newman will assist in conducting an outreach program with various media outlets to inform the public about the program, including the services it does and does not provide.

The board voted unanimously to amend a contract with Surdex Corporation to deliver post-Harvey digital aerial imagery data products and services, in an amount not to exceed $265,500.

The board voted unanimously to approve the executive director’s request for authorization to negotiate a lease for office space.

The board voted unanimously to find the Brazoria County PY2017 Consolidated Annual Action Plan consistent with the goals, objectives, and recommendations of Vision for Tomorrow, Our Great Region 2040, 2014-2018 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, the Fair Housing Equity Assessment, and with plans, policies, and H-GAC review criteria.

Earlier in the meeting, the board listened to an update on Hurricane Harvey.
