The Houston-Galveston Area Council Transportation Policy Council on Friday voted unanimously to accept the updated Gulf Coast Regionally Coordinated Transportation Plan.

H-GAC held seven public hearings pertaining to the RCTP throughout the region last June. The results of the meetings and summaries of the public comments that were received have been incorporated into a new Appendix I for the RCTP. Item Summary

Kari Hackett of the H-GAC led the presentation on the item. Listen (10:02)

The updated RCTP was the lone item on which the board took action since there were no amendments to the 2017-2020 Transportation Improvement Program and the 2040 Regional Transportation Plan requiring approval this month.

The policy council listened to a presentation on Hurricane Harvey’s impact on transportation structure. Listen (65:58)

Representatives from the H-GAC, Houston TranStar, the Texas Department of Transportation, the City of Houston, and Union Pacific Railroad spoke about the status of their respective agency’s recovery efforts, lessons learned, and issues to be addressed.

The policy council achieved a quorum of 25 members. Agenda
