Brazoria County Commissioners Court on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve the creation of the Chocolate Bayou Wind I, LLC Reinvestment Zone 1.

A public hearing was held prior to approval of the creation of the zone, which will allow the county to abate taxes for improvements to the property. The company plans to develop a wind energy project in the county.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to adopt a resolution honoring Evelyn Moore, who had served as President and CEO of the Brazoria County Head Start Early Learning Schools, Inc. for more than 40 years. Resolution

The commissioners court voted unanimously to adopt a resolution recognizing Bonnie “Ms. Kitty” Smith, who had served on the Village of Surfside Beach City Council and was owner and operator of Kitty's Purple Cow restaurant. Resolution

The commissioners court voted unanimously to reappoint Freddie Archie and Mary Jones to the Brazoria County Children's Protective Services Board.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to appoint Gene Barta and Mike Vitek to the Brazoria County Emergency Services District No. 1 Board of Commissioners.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to appoint Charles Richardson and Craig Peterson to the Brazoria County Emergency Services District No. 2 Board of Commissioners.

The commissioners court took no action regarding the assignment of a tax abatement agreement with Dow Chemical Company. The item was pulled from the agenda.

The commissioners court took no action regarding an interlocal agreement with the Jones Creek Volunteer Fire Department. The item was pulled from the agenda.

The commissioners court voted 4-1, with Judge Matt Sebesta opposed, to approve an interlocal agreement with the Oaks Manor Municipal Utility District.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to authorize the payment of $11,380 to Jamie Goh in regards to a Fair Labor Standards Act claim made by Goh, as discussed in executive session.

The commissioners court took no action resulting from any other items discussed in executive session.
