Port of Orange Board of Commissioners
by Garrett Bryce
Friday, March 09, 2018

The Port of Orange Board of Commissioners on Thursday administered the oath of office to John Montagne, Jr., who was appointed to represent Precinct 3 on the board.

Montagne's appointment was approved by the board in February to fill the vacancy left by Jimmy A. “Jimmy” Smith, who resigned due to moving out of the county.

The board elected Montagne as vice president of the board, replacing Smith in that capacity.

The board took no action regarding property, liability and auto insurance coverage through the Texas Municipal League. The quote was not ready.

The board took no action resulting from any items discussed in execution session.

All other action items were approved by unanimous vote. Commissioner Jerry Hughes was absent. Agenda

The board is holding an election on May 5 for three commissioner positions. Tim Schossow, Carol Holt and Walter Mullins, III have filed for the At-Large position on the board, incumbent Keith Wallace and Travis Miller have filed for Precinct 1, and John Young has filed and is unopposed for Precinct 4.
