As an experienced Council Member, Community and Business leader, Castex –Tatum plans to continue to blaze trails in District K and bring her experience and visionary leadership to Houston City Council.

Houston, Texas – On Tuesday, Martha Castex-Tatum is filing for Houston’s City Council District K.  Saddened by the sudden and unexpected loss of Council Member Larry Green, she is determined and committed to being the driving force to build upon the extraordinary footprint that has been laid in District K.

“I am honored to enter this race for Houston City Council. We have an amazing district, and the constituents of District K deserve to have a representative who they can trust, shares their values, and will continue to produce results that positively impact the community. I am that candidate,” said Castex-Tatum

“We have a great team and we are passionate about completing the work in progress and creating new opportunities in District K.  As thought-leaders, what Larry and I had in common, is our love for serving the community in which we were raised and our ability to influence change,” Castex-Tatum said.  "We had countless conversations and great plans for District K beyond 2019, and the movement to secure economic stability, enhance the infrastructure and beautify our district will continue." Martha knows first hand what matters most in District K.

This is not the first time Martha has run for political office. While living in San Marcos, TX, Martha’s desire to serve where she lives led her to unseat a 12 year incumbent, becoming the first African American woman to be elected in the city’s history. During her tenure on the San Marcos City Council, Martha served as Deputy Mayor Pro Tempore.  Martha has the experience and integrity to represent ALL residents and District K will continue to THRIVE and RISE!

Special Election Day is Saturday, May 5, 2018. You can learn more about Martha Castex-Tatum and her campaign by visiting
